What Is The Putt To The Fringe Drill?

This drill is great for a pre-round warm-up especially on greens you are unfamiliar with. It can be used as a quick way to get accustomed to the speed of the greens or practice control with your putter on a daily basis.

By putting to the fringe, you take the pressure and distraction of the hole away and can focus solely on speed.

Who Should Do It?

  • If you are warming up for a round as a great way to learn the speed of the greens
  • Those wanting to improve distance control.

How Do You Do It?

  • Putt to the fringe of the green and try to stop the ball as close to the fringe as possible without touching it.
  • Set a goal for yourself. For example, get 15 putts in a row within one foot of the fringe without touching it.
